Stepped housing arranged so every unit's terrace is roofed by the one above.

The section does the work: each storey sets back by the depth of a terrace, so the slab above becomes shade for the slab below. No pergolas, no add-on shading, and the whole massing reads as one stepped mass rather than a stack of balconies.
